Robotic Layout – Fast, Accurate and Directly on the Floor

With robotic layout, we bring digital drawings all the way onto the construction site. Our layout robot automatically navigates across the floor and prints lines, points and other information directly onto the surface.

Instead of setting out every point or line manually, large amounts of information can be transferred from the digital model to the real world in a short amount of time.

The result is clear, easy-to-understand markings directly where the work is to be carried out.

From digital drawing to reality

The data can be taken from CAD or BIM models and is prepared by our surveyors before the layout work begins.

The robot is positioned with surveying accuracy and can then automatically mark out, for example:

  • wall lines and partition walls
  • installation positions
  • openings and penetrations
  • fixing and mounting points
  • reference lines and grid lines
  • other project-specific lines, points and markings

This means that information that previously had to be interpreted from a drawing can instead be printed at full scale directly onto the construction floor.

Why use robotic layout?

The greatest advantage becomes particularly clear when large numbers of points or complex geometries need to be set out.

Faster layout
The robot can mark out large amounts of information considerably more efficiently than traditional manual marking.

Reduced risk of human error
The information is taken from the digital data and transferred directly onto the floor. This reduces the number of manual steps between design and construction.

Clearer information for the construction team
Lines and markings are placed exactly where the work is to be carried out. Installers and construction workers therefore need to transfer less information themselves from drawings to the real world.

Complex geometry becomes easier
Curves, angles and large numbers of individual points can be marked out just as naturally as straight lines.

More efficient workflow
Several trades can have their positions marked during the same operation, and the layout can be prepared digitally before we arrive on site.

Technology is only part of the solution

Accurate layout starts long before the robot begins printing on the floor. Our surveyors verify and prepare the digital data, establish the correct coordinate system and ensure that the robot is accurately positioned on the construction site.

With our experience in construction and civil engineering surveying, we can also identify uncertainties or potential issues in the design data before they are transferred onto the floor. The client therefore gets more than access to modern layout technology – they get a complete surveying service from digital data to finished layout.
