A family business that has grown with every challenge
Mätkonsult's story begins in 1989, when Krister Olsson founded the company and began providing surveying services to construction contractors in the Stockholm area.
During the first few years, Krister ran the business on his own, with an office in the basement of his home. As the client base grew, it was time to take the next step in the early 1990s – the first employee was hired and the business moved into a proper office.
This marked the beginning of the journey from a small one-man business to the Mätkonsult we are today.
From one person to an entire team
Over the years, both the company and its assignments have grown.
New employees, clients and projects have been added while surveying technology has continued to evolve. Work that was once carried out using traditional surveying instruments has gradually been complemented by new technology, digital models and new ways of working.
But one thing has remained the same since the beginning:
Mätkonsult should always stay close to both the client and the project.
We believe in personal responsibility, short decision-making processes and long-term relationships. Many of the partnerships built over the years have stayed with us for a long time and have played an important part in the development of the company.
The next generation takes over
In 2013, Pia Olsson took over as Managing Director from Krister.
During her time as Managing Director, Mätkonsult continued to develop and grow, expanding from 12 to around 20 employees.
In 2020, the company moved into the next generation when Viktor and Oskar Olsson took over responsibility for continuing to develop and lead Mätkonsult.
The family business continues to evolve – built on the same foundations as when the company was established, but with new people, new ideas and new technology.
Technology changes. Curiosity remains.
Surveying technology today looks very different from what it did in 1989.
Total stations and GNSS have been joined by 3D scanning, drones, digital models, machine control, automated layout and other technologies that would have been difficult to imagine when the company was founded.
For Mätkonsult, development has always been a natural part of the business.
We want to understand new technology, explore new ways of working and use them where they genuinely improve our surveying services and our clients' projects.
At the same time, good surveying still depends on the same things it always has: knowledge, accuracy, responsibility and experience.
Mätkonsult today
Since the company was founded in 1989, many people have helped shape Mätkonsult.
Every employee has contributed their knowledge and experience and helped build the culture we have today – a workplace where we want people to feel welcome, have the opportunity to develop and help one another.
This has also helped us build long-term relationships with clients in the construction and civil engineering sectors, and a company we are proud of.
But our story is still being written.
From a basement office in 1989 to the Mätkonsult of today.
A great deal has changed along the way – there are more of us, the projects have become larger and the technology considerably more advanced.
What remains is our commitment to doing a good job, continuing to develop and building long-term relationships.
